Rikki Franks
Q: What drove you to choose Elmhurst University?
A: The flexibility of the program. With this accelerated program, you can start right after your bachelor's degree in any other field you have been in. After the program, we will have our MSNs (Master of Science in Nursing), and then, if you want to pursue your career more and become a doctorate or a nurse practitioner, then you can just get a certificate.
Q: What is the best part of the program?
A: The best part is the relationships I’ve built over time and the opportunities and experiences we’ve had through clinicals. So far, we have had pediatrics and OB, and it just opens the opportunity to experience. During the clinicals, you can practice the skills you are learning and facilitate compassion to your patients.
Q: Do you want to specialize after you graduate?
A: This program has made me decide that I really want to go into mental health. I have been accepted into a post-certificate program for mental health, and I want to be a Nurse Practitioner after that. I really want to advocate for patients who do not have a voice. Vulnerable populations. I just want to make sure that they are heard and cared for in the way they should be.
