Q: Why did you choose Elmhurst?

A: The online ABSN nursing program allowed me a lot of flexibility in my schedule and as an adult learner, that is important to me.

Q: What was your favorite part of the program?

A: My favorite parts of the program were the lab simulation and clinical rotations. The preceptors we had were phenomenal role models and those nurses took the time to walk us through the procedures, the equipment, and the nursing care that those patients needed, and we were able to see the impact of our role as nursing students affect them in a positive way.

Q: Tell us about your fellow classmates. Did you collaborate with others during the online courses? Was it beneficial to meet them in person at the residency?

A: My classmates were phenomenal. They were fantastic, intelligent, hardworking people that brought variable experience to the table. We really bonded as a group, and we formed some very close friendships.

Q: Can you tell us about your connection with faculty members?

A: My professors and preceptors helped me identify my strengths and where I would be a good fit in the nursing profession because there are so many possibilities in nursing.

Q: What impact do you hope to have as a nurse?

A: The impact I hope to have as a nurse is to educate my patients on how to be healthy and help them manage their chronic illnesses or even prevent those illnesses from occurring. Nursing is a calling. It is a healing profession. Nurses make a special connection with their patients to support them through some of the most challenging times in their lives.

Q: Anything else you would like to share?

A: I believe we are lifetime learners. As nurses we need to update our knowledge continuously to bring our best foot forward for the benefit of our patients.
