Our clinical placement team will work closely with you to ensure your placements meet University and national guidelines. They will handle the logistics of identifying and securing quality placement sites as close as possible to your local community, allowing you time to focus on your coursework. This complimentary service is built-in to the program; there are no extra fees for this benefit. 

 

Clinical Placement Services – FAQs

Our placement team will work one-on-one with you to navigate the clinical placement process, striving to place you in sites close to your preferred locations. In geographic regions with limited placement options, you may need to travel 125 miles each way to meet clinical training requirements across the breadth and depth of clinical practice.

The speech-language pathology clinical experiences are designed to provide you with real-world, hands-on experience to complement your classroom learning. These off-campus experiences in practice settings near your home enrich your graduate experience by preparing you for action in the field in a variety of settings.

Our placement team will collaborate with you to secure quality practicum sites. Our staff ensures all experiences meet accreditation standards and that your sites and clinical educators are approved prior to the start of your practicum work.

Students will provide assessment and intervention services to pediatric and/or adult clients within various clinical settings in areas such as speech production, receptive language, expressive language, cognitive-communication, fluency, voice, social communication and/or augmentative and alternative forms of communication. Students will use assessment data to construct appropriate intervention plans, develop lesson plans, deliver therapy to address desired goals, and conduct ongoing assessment of client progress.

You’ll work with and remain in close communication with our placement team throughout your program. This team will help you stay on track with deadlines and manage your clinicals checklist.
